Beautiful wooden home / shop / cabin nestled in the scenic hills of Kyushu's Hiraodai. This house is an original design by its current owners and was constructed by a Japanese daiku (traditional Japanese carpenter). It is very well built and extremely charming. The home is currently being used as a Western Cafe.
Hiraodai is a truly beautiful area and is a popular natural sightseeing spot. The karst outcrop, with its many large majestic limestone rocks on the hills and plateau are lovely. One can enjoy hiking, exploring caves, and natural beauty of the karst, bamboo, flowers, and greenery.
It is an all electric house, meaning the water heater and kitchen are electric and not gas. Besides being safe and ecological, electricity is very cheap. The water heater and IH (Induction Heating) system kitchen are both money savers.
Parking is not an issue. There is ample land (total plot size is over 870 square metres) and there is space for more than ten cars to be parked.
Despite Hiraodai seeming remote, it is actually very close to the central areas in the cities of Kitakyushu and Yukuhashi. Just a short car or motorbike ride and you have all the benefits of a million person city at your disposal.
This property would be an excellent second home and perfect for weekend and summer getaways. One could also probably make some decent money by renting it out as a lodge, as well. Hiraodai attracts many hikers and nature lovers but is sorely lacking in lodging (i.e. there is NO LODGING!). The current owners run a successful cafe which serves a limited menu of coffee, juice, beer, cheese cake, and amazing cowboy burgers. They also sell Western fashion and accessories. The plot of land is spacious and more than large enough to enjoy gardening or just playing in the yard with one's dogs or children.
There is a lot of potential for this piece of real estate. It is in excellent shape and wouldn't require much work to customize the layout to suit your specific needs.
